Arthel Lane "Doc" Watson was an American guitarist, singer songwriter of bluegrass, folk, country, blues, and gospel. His flatpicking and knowledge of American music were highly regarded. He was influential during the '60s folk music revival. He pioneered a fast flashy bluegrass guitar style with cross picking techniques adopted by many others. He won 7 Grammys and a Lifetime Achievement Award.
